We know what you're thinking: it's too cold to workout! And outside? No way.
Sorry friends, it’s time to think again. Working out in the cold is not only good for you, but it also more effective! Our bodies use extra energy to keep warm, and stay warm when it’s cold outside. And once your workout is in high gear (running, cross-country skiing, ice skating, a brisk walk with your dog) you’re also going to start generating heat from the physical activity, doubling down on energy expelled and calories burnt.
And we’ve got more good news! With the exception of temperatures at or below zero degrees, scientists have suggested that it’s rarely ever too cold to exercise outdoors as long as you suit up to minimize cold-weather risks. Aka – dress appropriately! Real talk: it’s time to retire those excuses and get outside for some cold weather workouts this winter. It might even feel refreshing. And speaking of fresh, your trusty sidekick gaan + co will be there to help you freshen up over that well-earned cup of hot cocoa by the fire.
